No messing around. I just went for it. After entering Austria I traveled straight to Bad Blumau, the outrageously cool utopian spa village designed by Hundertwasser. My bike trip might add some new Austrian places to love but I believe Bad Blumau will stay my favorite forever. One-of-a-kind architecture, aufguss after aufguss in the sauna, underwater music in the Vulkania spring, vinegar drinks, mud pack in the steam bath, thyme panna cotta, nighttime fire baskets around the heated pool.
Ouch, the heartache this morning when getting on my bike in the pouring rain and seeing the stream of weekend visitors arrive, still a few days of paradise ahead of them. Lucky!
