Even though I am suffering from big city fatigue, I somehow pulled off a day of Vienna sightseeing. This is the 5th capital city on my trip but only the first one I explored by bicycle. There is a bicycle ringroad around the historical center, super convenient for gawking at the impressive architecture.
A special hurray for the Museum Quartier! The former Hapsburg stables are turned into a contemporary art centre with the big courtyard as a central square complete with restaurants and a DJ and colorful seating blocks AND a big lava block building housing the modern art museum. Later I joined the Wiener crowds in the many parks for a lazy sunny Sunday afternoon. What a perfect day for biking through the Prater Hauptallee and laying on the grass next to the golden Johann Strauss statue for some serious people watching in the Stadtpark.
(The place where I stayed, the PopInn, deserves a separate blog post. Stay tuned!)
I like your bike knitwear...

ReplyDeleteNooo, not yet. Just 'Bike'... :)
DeleteSo I have to ask, what's in the vending machine?!
ReplyDeleteThe vending machine is in one of the many arches at the MuseumQuartier. Each arch serves as a canvas for a rotating art show. The vending machine has a catalog for this particular show!
DeleteVergeet niet de appelstrudel met vanillesaus te proeven, heerlijk! Groetjes San
ReplyDeleteDat is er niet meer van gekomen... Hopelijk vind ik nog een goede strudel hier in Deutschland!
